ODD DELLA-ROBBIA
If I'm young and stupid
At least I'm doing it while
I'm young and stupid
And not while it's out of style
At least I'm doing it while
I'm young and stupid
And not while it's out of style

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Out of all of his friends, Odd is definitely the smallest, even when one factors in his rather eccentric hair style. He’s also lean, on the scrawny side, for sure, despite his appetite, though if someone ever made a statement about it, ‘I’m svelte!’ would certainly be their answer. But before anyone notices that, typically, they see the hair. And wooow, what hair it is. Spiked up ‘Lyoko-style’, rounded to a point, Odd’s blond hair is carefully gelled in that style, and, uniquely, he has a purple triangle-shaped spot on the very front. Despite what some may say, it’s actually completely natural! Matched with a pair of golden eyes, his natural features are a little bit on the strange side!
Typically, his outfits are just as eccentric as the rest of him. His current favorite is a short-sleeve light purple hoodie with darker sleeves attached, over pink tank, with cut-off jeans and a pair of red sneakers. Another outfit that he typically wears, though, is a light purple v-neck long sleeve shirt, over a pink tank as well, with an odd pair of pants, one half a dark purple, and one half a light purple, sewn together, and matched with a pair of yellow boots. His clothes are extremely eccentric, just like him! <3 Typically, his pajamas are very simple, though, just a dark purple shirt, long-sleeve or short, depending on how hot/cold he is, and a pair of black shorts.
His appearance, as a whole, is pretty much the same. Casual, hangs in either his jean pockets or hoodie pockets, one knee bent as he leans on something, or bent across his other leg as he sits on something, things like that. Casual, casual Odd. Typically, he can also be found with his silver cell phone smuggled in his pocket, along with game console shoved in either his hoodie pocket or his green backpack, covered in key chains and stickers as it is. Over all, Odd’s look is, well, odd, and that’s what makes him him. <3
PERSONALITY: As anyone who has even remotely spoken to Odd Della-Robbia can tell you, he is a joker, first and foremost. Treating life like a game, he wants to get the absolute most he can out of life, choosing not to dwell on things he finds not fun, or useless, and instead on all the things that he enjoys. On one hand, it means he absolutely flourishes in the things that he’s good at and enjoys, but on the other, the things that don’t fall into those two categories… Not so much. He’s an exuberant, enthusiastic person, though, and should he actually apply himself to something with the wholeheartedness he gives the enjoyable parts of his life… Well, he’d excel.
Unfortunately, he’s a bit too lazy for that. His brain still hasn’t quite grasped the ‘cause-and-effect’ notions, meaning that if he annoys someone now, what, they won’t help him later? Really? On this note, though, he doesn’t really hold grudges. Like, ever. Sure, he still might be irritated or mad at someone later, but the most he’s honestly be genuinely upset with someone was a few days, before he got over it. Being constantly mad is a toll on his appetite, which is horrible!
Speaking of food, Odd can be downright hormonal over it. A happy Odd is a well-fed Odd, and, well, if you get between him and his food, or deprive him of eating what he enjoys… Cranky Odd on your hands, that’s for sure. And a cranky Odd can be one of two things. He’s either a whiner and complainer, constantly bemoaning and will probably get back at you via a prank, but sometimes, he can be passive-aggressive, taking subtle (well, for Odd) digs at people and just genuinely being a pain in the butt to be around. Thankfully, feeding him usually cheers him right up!
As a whole, Odd is a happy, mischievous person, but when he gets angry… (usually over Xana, or someone else hurting his friends, or heck, even over people being really mean and horrid) Oh man, when Odd is genuinely angry, it’s a scary sight to behold. He grows up, by what seems like almost decades, and for once in his life, takes it all seriously. Better watch out when he does that. Thankfully, it really doesn’t happy often! For the most part, though he has certainly matured and grown over the past year, he’s Odd. Goofy, playful, joking Odd, who’s just a giant Casanova in a kid’s body.
Oh, did I not mention that? Odd loooves to date the ladies, but he doesn’t have much luck. After all of his dates and girlfriends and all that… People tend to doubt if he’s really sincere, or a player. But each relationship is special to Odd, each one has memories, and every compliment is entirely true… He’s a bit of a sweetheart and romantic at his core, not going to lie. <3 A joking, childish, immature sweetheart, but a sweetheart nonetheless, one who is very loyal to his friends. And who will mess you up if you mess with them too much. Odd is, well, Odd!
STRENGTHS: For one, Odd is really good at artistic things. He’s really good with music, possessing quite a talent in the guitar area, and though people may argue, he actually has a good ear for singing, rhythm, tone, tempo… He’s really good with that type of thing, and actually has a decent voice, though he’d prefer to mess around than sing anything decent (decent, he’s definitely not exceptional, but he’s not bad, either). Art is his true skill, however. From painting to coloring to sketching to drawing… Well, Odd loves the arts. He could devote so much time to them, but at the same time, he’s ridiculously distracted, so he doesn’t!
Wooh for Odd!
Physically, he’s probably one of the more flexible people on the team. While nowhere near Ulrich and Yumi’s level, he definitely knows some martial arts (having a former army Dad helps with that, though he has no clue what types he knows or doesn’t), enough to prove an okay sparring partner for his friends, and he’s rather flexible and athletic, having been in gymnastics when he was younger, and honestly excelled at it. He’s definitely not as flexible and the like as Yumi, and he’s not as athletic as Ulrich, but he’s right below them, staunchly in the middle, and so he’s pretty darn good! He excels the most at climbing, though, he’s great with that! Even without his Lyoko paws and tail.
WEAKNESSES: Weaknesses… Oh man. For one, there’s his tendency to be distracted quite easily. It makes it really hard to get work done, whether it’s work he enjoys or work that he doesn’t (really helps with the stuff he doesn’t), often picking up the newest game for ‘One more level!’, or ignoring studying in favor of messing around with some music. In addition, there’s the fact that he’s honestly not motivated or dedicated, not really good at looking beyond the now into the fact that bad grades and the like can hinder his movement into a college. Speaking of which…
His grades really aren’t the best. Well, uh, kinda an understatement. If Odd has to work at it, or if it doesn’t come naturally… He doesn’t really care about it, and usually doesn’t do well. Plus, Odd can be really lazy, in all honesty. Just doing the bare minimum that he can, and scraping by? Sounds great! That kinda puts a hindrance on developing anything worthwhile, because if he’s not enjoying every minute of it, what’s the pooooint?
There’s also the fact that he treats life like a game. While it definitely makes it more enjoyable for him, it’s not the best. He can be abrasive to others, being kinda selfish, which puts him at odds with people, as well as the fact that he, well… is weird. Plus, he’s crashed and burned so, so many relationships, which can hinder any efforts to find a working one. In addition, his devil-may-care attitude and almost sheer inability to be serious greatly injures him. If serious stuff does happen, he honestly doesn’t know how to take it, which either leads him to taking refuge in his ‘non-seriousness’, possibly alienating other people by apparently not caring, or he just… breaks down. Doesn’t know how to handle it.
So… yep. Odd = mucho weaknesses! As does everyone. <3
LYOKO: When on Lyoko, Odd wears a purple body suit, with a darker purple body armor covering on his chest, upper back, and shoulders, a singular covering that stretches across all three, that is, and kneepads of the same coloring. His hands are pawlike, completely covered, and with each finger ending in a claw. Over top of his hands, wrists, and some of the lower part of his arm is his laser arrow shooter, a darker, almost black covering that has a light blue circle on each of knuckles, from where he shoots his arrows, and has yellow, slightly jagged stripes across his arms, with matching yellow circles on his shoulders. In addition, when on Lyoko, he wears a pair of light purple, almost grey boots, mostly hidden underneath his suit, only has four fingers, has two triangular shaped purple markings under his eyes, and has a purple cat’s tail.
Power-wise, Odd is, perhaps, the most underpowered out of all of his allies. He has his typical laser arrows, an infinite number of them, shot from the shooter on his knuckles, has versatile claws that he can use to scratch enemies (though it is admittedly quite difficult to kill them with them) or climb up things, has great balance (tails really do help!), a small purple shield that he can generate to protect part of his body (it won't hold against like, say, megatanks, but it'll stand up against most shots for a bit), and his typical ride, an Overboard, a purple board similar to a flying skateboard. Most of his gifts and talents come from his own versatility, versus any programming. You go, Odd Della-Robbia!
HISTORY: Born in Italy, the sixth child, and the only boy, to a pair of painters, Odd’s early life, was, well, very fitting of his name. His father was formerly in the army, so they had a military obedience (which inspired Odd’s ‘rebelliousness’ and lack of listening later on) at their house, though that was off-put by his parents’ freespiritedness and way of always looking at the silver lining, praising their children for the good things, and rarely the bad, though they did always inspire discipline (no acting out, but if your grades were bad in Algebra, well, that’s totally okay!). His older sisters… Well, he likes to exaggerate and call them ‘bullies’, but they didn’t go much more than regular sibling roughhousing.
However, with him as the smallest, and with quite a few years separating him and his oldest sister, as well as the fact that they liked to gang up on him, it was quite a trial in and of itself. However, that did inspire quite a few things in him: First off, his fashion. As some would tell you, his lack of it, but Odd does have a style all his own. Secondly, the fact that he feels he ‘gets’ girls (and to be honest, he actually does, he just usually doesn’t care enough to put said knowledge into practice), and, third, the fact that he is a hundred percent, wholly, confident in who he is. No bullying will keep him down, no one can tell him that he’s an utter mess, and while that does put a halt to most constructive criticism, he is just honestly content in himself.
Odd is Odd, and that’s the way it should be. For him, at least.
Because of his rather… eccentric nature, he was genuinely liked by most (if regarded as weird), but he didn’t really have any super close friends, being honestly too childish for most of them. At least, until he transferred to Kadic Academy. His parents had heard great tales of it, and Odd stumbled across it while messing around online, and after discovering that it had an excellent program for art (as well as the fact that it was super close to Paris!), he begged his parents to let him go. They, of course, agreed quite happily.
Smuggling Kiwi, his pet dog, along with him (he didn’t let his parents find out that pets weren’t allowed), Odd headed off to France, genuinely delighted to be out of the country. This would be fun! First day there, he was already headed on to be good friends with his roomie, at least… Until Ulrich Stern decided to steal his dog to use as an experiment. A quick chase revealed… A supercomputer. And Lyoko.
Extremely excited by this, Odd ended up going right into Lyoko, being a purple cat warrior (much to his shock and confusion), and, well… It all went downhill from there. Making friends with Jeremie, Ulrich, Yumi, and Aelita, the girl trapped in the computer… He vowed to help them get her out, and that’s what they spent much of their time doing.
But of course, Xana wouldn’t let them, sending attacks out, trying to thwart them… It was a huuuge mess, and Odd became a genuine Lyoko warrior, fighting and making friends and saving the day, and he didn’t think he ever had had more fun. And then they did it! Saved Aelita, brought her out… But Xana had infected her, and they couldn’t shut down Lyoko yet.
So they had to help her find her memories, yahoo! But oh dear, then Xana escaped the supercomputer… Time to try to stop him! And let William join the group, awesome! But oh, dear… William was taken over by Xana and Lyoko was destroyed… But Jeremie rebuilt it! And they got to go on Skids, and travel to Replikas, and try to destroy them and Xana… and they did! But Franz Hopper lost his life in the process…
A very long and confusing journey, huh? Odd isn’t one to dwell, though, and would honestly be hard-pressed to give you the details if you asked. He was sorta… a rock, in a way, the one the least affected, the one that was the most optimistic, the one that wasn’t constantly compromised by something, good friend to all… He grew especially close to his friends, over that period, and had many, many romantic relationships, all of which have crashed and burned…
But he’s still Odd. Maybe a touch more mature, maybe someone who actually knows loss, and knows how to be serious and steadfast and how to help, someone who’s actually grounded by others and has friends and the like to back him up, someone who has tasted adventure, and fun, and wants so much more… But he’s still Odd.
And even though the supercomputer is shut down, and they worry about their future, how to cope without it, if they’ll stay together… Odd looks to the future and knows it’ll be okay. After all, what could possibly go wrong?
MISSION CONTROL
SCREENNAME: Poet
Time spent roleplaying: 5-ish years
Other Characters: N/A!
RP Sample: Oh, come on, come on, he was so close! Tongue stuck out, teeth trapping it as it hung, fiercely concentrating on the screen before him as he tapped quickly on his game, so close, so close, so cloooose, c’mon, he could practically taste the victory… Just another 25 points to go, and… and… and… he beat it! Game over, all done, who was the maaan! “Yahoo!” he crowed instinctively, grinning from ear to ear as he fistpumped, startling Kiwi, who had been formerly resting across his lap. Ooh, that’s right, it was night, hence the darkness outside…
As if right on cue with that sort of thought, ooooout came a pillow flying out of nowhere, and smacked him right in the head. “Shut up,” came the mumbled groan from the other side of the room, and Odd just griiinned at the sleeping (well, attempting to sleep) figure of his roommate. It was soooo tempting to just mess with him, now, to throw it right back, buuuut… He should probably get to sleep, too, gosh, it was late. Like three in the morning! Can’t believe it! That went by waaaay fast, wow!
Snatching up his pet, the tousled haired boy slipped underneath his covers, game console falling carelessly onto the floor with a thump (inspiring another irritated noise from the grump in the opposite bed), carefully using both pillows (his fault for throwing it, haha), Kiwi curling up right next to his chest as he let out a jaw-cracking yawn. “My cute diggity dog,” he murmured, stroking his pet lightly, eyes falling shut (wooow, he was tired, PE was not gonna be fun tomorrow, unless it was running…? Azra usually took the attention off of him, in that case…). “’M the best player ever, don’t you forget.”
Another groan, this time very cranky, sounded again (oooh, he really should do something, now, this was the most opportune time…), but before he could jab a wisecrack in that direction, he was out, snores punctuating the silence, and French fries filling his head. Mm, yummy…
