Where was Yumi?
It was a thought that flitted through the hair of the purple-clad, spiked-hair boy that was sprawled on his bed, dog resting beside him as he flipped listlessly through a history book. He had a test tomorrow, ugh. And, thank goodness, Yumi was going to help him study.
When he thought about it, it made sense. Aelita and Jeremie were off doing… stuff (how Princess had managed to drag Einstein out of his room, he had no idea), he didn’t know what, Ulrich’s grades were almost as bad as his, and he was studying himself, anyway, so that left Yumi (though if she had said no, William was his next choice, followed by bribing Herve, before he’d finally sit down and study all by himself). Ulrich had decided to study in the library (less distractions apparently, wonder what was so distracting in their room? He hadn’t noticed anything…), sooo that left Yumi and Odd in his room.
And now was the waiting period, hoping she would come soon. His history book was, well, currently flipped through, his notebook filled with doodles, sketches, and the occasional note when he thought something was interesting was flopped on the floor, and his folder of homework, papers, all that kind of junk that he had barely touched was peeking out of his purple backpack, leaned against his bed. In short, he was…
Really. Really. Bored.
No matter how many times he flipped through it, reading up the umpteenth French Revolution didn’t make him any more interested, and he knew, just knew that he was going to bomb this. His parents wouldn’t care, but he was still going to bomb it. And then no art school, and no Odd Della-Robbia T-shirts.
Now that was a travesty the world should not miss.
With that, he rolled over onto his stomach, jostling Kiwi, who let out a quiet yelp, before he settled down again, and lifted his history book over his head, hoping it would somehow make a different in this position. Nope. Not at all. With that, hyperactive kid with the short attention span dropped the open book onto his face, covering it, and let out a groan.
School was so dumb.

Hiroki had been particularly hard to shake today.
It was likely the notion of Yumi going to Ulrich's dorm room after school, even though she had pointedly explained to him that she was going to help Odd study. Giving it words, Yumi supposed that was the more interesting, impossible idea anyway-- the thought of Odd putting effort like pre-test preparation into his academic pursuits was sadly laughable. Yumi had her suspicions. But she would have been a bad friend not to agree to help. And she felt obligated to give Odd the benefit of the doubt-- maybe with all of this newfound time on their hands, he'd finally made the decision to stop slacking off in school.
She pushed open the door to her friends' room without so much as a knock, as she was accustomed to. The scene before her was not encouraging. She quirked an eyebrow at the unorthodox placement of his French history textbook-- not much studying potential there-- and scowled at the dismal state of his room and his backpack. Organization and neatness were not Odd's areas of strength. Yumi dropped her bookbag with a thud and folded her arms, turning her reproachful gaze on the boy in question.
"This may be a new concept for you, but I know you learn fast," she said, a tone of amusement in her voice despite herself. She paused, her sights trailing around the room and lingering on the papers haphazardly jammed away. Almost made her flinch, how bad at school Odd was. "You're generally supposed to start studying before the tutor arrives. Ideally you'd tell them what your issues are with the material. You know, rather than trying to absorb all the knowledge through your face." She tried to sound firm, but ended with a smile as she stepped forward and plopped down on the edge of his bed. Kiwi nipped at her playfully, and she gathered him into her arms while she looked sidelong at the legendary slacker.
"Any idea where to start?"

The sound of the door opening clued him into the fact that his friend had finally arrived, but he didn't move as she spoke, only finally sitting up and letting his book fall off of his head and onto his legs after she was done. Ouch, that was heavy... "I tried, but it's so boring!" he complained exuberantly to the older girl, shifting so that his back was up against the wall.
Honestly he didn't want to study. Nope, he could fail, for all he cared! But... Ciri had sent him an e-mail, basically yelling at him. He wanted to get into this art school, for college. Mom and Dad had gone there, they met there, and, well, according to the report she linked him and all that, his grades needed upgrading or he probably wouldn't be able to get in! Stuuuuuupid school.
So Yumes was his only hope!
Thus, Odd gave her what he hoped to be a winning smile. Of course it was a winning smile! Definitely! "You took this test last year, right? Can't you just tell me what's on it? Pleeeeeease?" That way, it'd be super easy! He'd just quick memorize what she told him to memorize, and presto, test studying done! And then he could beat his next two levels~.
He hoped she would, at least. At least it was partial studying, maybe she'd approve of at least that? Because otherwise he was doomed, done for, no way were his grades going up, and, even worse, no way was he going to get through the first part of his game today! The horror! The tragedy!
