Tohru Honda has been living with her friend Arisa Uotani since her mother died in a car accident. With Uo constantly having a full time job and only being in the house in the early and late hours of the morning, Tohru spends much of her time alone. It is in this alone time that she tends to shop, or spend time around the city.
She ponders what would happen if Uo hadn't been there for her, that her earlier plan of living in a tent would have happened. Still, fate works in mysterious ways and just because she didn't follow through with that plan, doesn't mean that things aren't going to happen. In fact, the way she walks from Uo's house to school often has her crossing paths with Yuki Sohma, and his cousin Kyo when they actually aren't arguing.
Looks like fate will throw them together no matter what.
